Projects are boards for work that isn't a customer ticket: a depot move, a product launch, a client rollout. Each project has cards that move across three stages: To Do, In Progress and Done.
Creating a project
Open Projects in the sidebar and click New project.
Give it a name and, optionally, a description.
Choose a template. It sets up the stages, the statuses inside them, and the labels for that kind of work:
- General
- Software Development
- Insurance Broker
- Accounting
- IT Support
- Rental Agency
- Legal
- Marketing Agency
- Healthcare
- Construction
Projects you've saved as templates are listed too.
Click Create project. You land on the new, empty board.
Cards
- Add a card: click + at the top of a column (or next to a status), type a title and press Enter.
- Move a card: drag it to another column or status.
- Open a card: click it to add a description, checklist, members, a due date, labels, files and comments. See Cards in depth.
Each card gets a number (for example PM-1031) that you can refer to anywhere.
Board and table views
The buttons at the top right switch between these views:
- Board view (cards in columns) and Table view (one row per card, which you can sort by ID, title, status, priority or due date, with a choice of columns).
- Grouped layout (three stage columns, with each status as a group inside) and Expanded layout (a column for every status).
Choose which view and layout a project opens in under Project settings → General.
Filtering
Above the board you can filter by:
- text in the card title;
- priority (Urgent, High, Normal, Low);
- the people on the card;
- label or segment;
- Has due date.
Click a filter again to clear it. The filters stay in the page address, so you can share a filtered board.
Project settings
Click the cog at the top right of the board.
- General: the name, description, default view and layout, and Auto-assign new cards (people who get new cards that no one was assigned to, including requests from the customer portal). You can also save the project as a template here.
- Labels: add labels and choose their colours, or delete them.
- Members: who can see and work on the board, as Owner, Editor or Viewer. Add anyone in your workspace.
- Segments: split a project into streams of work (for example Audit, Tax and Advisory), and filter the board by them.
- Workflow: rename the three stages and set the statuses inside each. Or apply a template's workflow.
- Card Templates: ready-made cards to start new ones from, with a name, description, priority, labels and checklists.
The Projects page
The Projects page lists every project with how many of its cards are to do, in progress and done. The To Do, In Progress and Done buttons show only projects that have cards in that stage. From here you can also Export all to Excel, or Show archived projects.
