What time can be attached to
Every time entry is attached to one of these:
- Ticket: work on a helpdesk ticket, such as tracing a parcel for HD-1234.
- Card: work on a project card. Timers started on a card attach to it.
- Project: work on a project as a whole rather than one card, such as a steering meeting.
- Category: work with no ticket or project, such as Admin or Meetings. Managers set up the categories (see Time categories and charge-out rates).
- Custom label: anything else, typed in, such as "Research" or "On-call standby".
An entry is attached to only one of these at a time. Your timesheet, the timer in the top bar and your reports show what each entry is for by name (for example HD-1234 · Parcel not delivered).
Choosing what to attach to
- Start timer on a ticket or card attaches the timer to it straight away.
- Start timer in the top bar opens a search. Type to find a ticket, project or category, pick one of your five most recent, or type a custom label and press Enter.
- Add entry in the Timesheet has an Attach to choice (Project, Ticket, Category or Custom label) followed by a picker for that kind.
You can change what an entry is attached to later by clicking it in the Day or Week view.
"Time logged" on tickets and cards
Next to a ticket's title (and on cards), No time logged or 1h 15m logged shows the time you have logged on it in the last 30 days. Click it to see each entry. It shows only your own time; managers see everyone's time in Team Timesheets.
Categories or custom labels?
Use a category for work the whole team does and that you want to report on together, such as meetings or admin. Use a custom label for your own one-off work. Custom labels are personal, so your "Research" isn't grouped with a colleague's.
