If you create a workspace with a personal email address, IntelliDesk asks you to add a card before your free trial starts. You'll see a screen called One last step: "Add a card to start your 90-day free trial". Workspaces created with a company email address don't see this screen and start straight away.
Why we ask
Free trials that anyone can open with a throwaway address get misused for spam, which hurts every customer's email reputation. Asking for a card on personal addresses keeps that out, without getting in the way of businesses signing up with their company address.
Which addresses count as personal
It depends on the email address of the person who creates the workspace. Addresses at public email services such as gmail.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, yahoo.com, icloud.com, protonmail.com and zoho.com count as personal, as do temporary or disposable addresses. An address at your own company's domain (for example you@yourcompany.co.za) doesn't, even if your company's email is hosted by Google or Microsoft.
Tip: if you have a company address, sign up with that instead and you won't be asked for a card.
What happens when you add the card
- Click Add card and start trial. You're taken to Stripe, our payment provider, to enter your card.
- When you're done you come back to IntelliDesk and your workspace opens.
- You aren't charged for 90 days. The card is verified, not billed.
- When the 90 days are up, the base plan is charged and your workspace carries on as normal. See Plans and pricing: what IntelliDesk costs and what counts as an agent for the amount.
- You can cancel at any time before then from Settings → Billing → Manage in Stripe, and you won't be charged. See How do I cancel my subscription, and what happens to my data?
- IntelliDesk never sees or stores your card details. Stripe handles them.
Using IntelliDesk before adding a card
Until a card is added, the workspace stays on the One last step screen, and any change you try to make is refused with "Add a payment method to start using your workspace (Settings → Billing)." If you signed up with the wrong address, use Sign out on that screen and sign up again with your company address.
If you can't add a card for a genuine reason, email support@intellidesk.co and tell us about your business.
